Goal setting for the next 6 months can be simple and fulfilling.
Goal setting for the next 6 months
As we now turn to the last 6 months of the year, let's set some goals to make the rest of the year the best it can be for you.
What is setting goals about? Have you done this in the past? Is it something you regularly do now?
Research has shown that you are 2x to 3x more likely to stick to your goals if you make a specific plan for when, where, and how you will perform the behavior. For example, in one study scientists asked people to fill out this sentence: During the next week, I will partake in at least 20 minutes of vigorous exercise on [DAY] at [TIME OF DAY] at/in [PLACE]. This is called implementation intentions and I agree. Setting a goal needs to be more than just I will do exercises every day.
One of my favorite ways to utilize this finding is with a strategy I call habit stacking. To use habit stacking, just fill out this sentence:
After/Before [CURRENT HABIT], I will [NEW HABIT].
Here are some examples:
Meditation: After I brew my morning coffee, I will meditate for one minute.
Pushups: Before I take my morning shower, I will do 10 pushups.
Flossing: After I set my toothbrush down, I will floss my teeth.
Gratitude: Before I eat dinner, I will say one thing I am grateful for that day.
Networking: After I return from my lunch break, I will send one email to someone I want to meet.
Habit Stacking works well, it lets you create a specific plan for when and where you will do such goal you have set, not only that, but it links your new goal to something you are already doing every day!

It's all in the details
Lets get going.
Paper and Pen or phone / computer. Something that you can see all the time. I like the sticky notes old school style on the mirror on the bathroom. I look at it when I brush my teeth or to see what my wild mop of hair is doing....
Look at it, keep reminding yourself. Start small - KEY... and be consistent. its a word you hear me use often!!
Something else I do - write my results or what ever it is you can benchmark agains to track your results, this also adds as a motivator.
Measure to discover, to find out and to UNDERSTAND. Measure to see if you are showing up. Measure to see if you're actually spending time on the things that are important to you.
I also need to be accountable. If I tell someone then I need to keep it up. I am competitive (In case you didn't know)
I will share a website that I look at and receive newsletters that I open and read.... I find them to be inspiring and insightful!! I hope these do the same for you.
If you email me and tell me your goal. I will let you know mine too.
